MLM VS Pyramid

Steve Smith's Definition of MLM and Pyramid Marketing

Steve Smith, a well known network marketing legend defines network marketing as follows---

Network Marketing is a marketing concept were the salesforce is benefited by the sales they make as well as the sales made by the people that are recruited by the sales person. It is thus very interesting for those who are interested in building networks and have the drive to earn by motivating people in the network to make sales.

In network marketing, registering or signing up by paying an initial joining fee, a distributor is given the right to use company's name, sell it's products and services, sell the company franchise to others who are interested, advertise the company's products and other rights that can help market the products. Here the workforce puts the efforts to earn.

While in pyramid marketing, the investor or consumer is promised of high returns without doing any work or selling any thing. These are generally scams to loot common man's money. Only the planners are benefited in these marketing tricks.
